Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
I feel blessed to be among you as a priest in God’s service to you.
One of the most sacred gifts from God is our togetherness; it is pleasing to God Almighty that we should be one. The Psalmist wrote:
.הִנֵּה מַה טוֹב = Hine mah tov
Behold how good
וּמַה נָּעִים = uMah-Nayim
and how pleasing
שֶׁבֶת אָחִים גַּם יַחַד = shevet achim gam yachad
it is for brothers and sisters to sit together in unity
The Love of God that grows in our heart is not only a gift; it is itself, being from God, a giver of Life. Opening our heart to God’s Love exposes us because all barriers crumble at the gentle sound of Love’s voice. This world screams, making us slaves of busy-ness. God calls us children, making us servants of the Divine Name in Holy Spirit. The human mind is vulnerable to this world’s teachings of finiteness, of things that end, and of things limited. The human spirit – God created – is holy in God’s image and likeness; it knows the infinite, eternity, and immortality. One may think that the choice is clear of how to live one’s life: we want the eternal and the imperishable; sometimes we even get a glimpse of it, and we try to hold it. But to hold it is not possible; to keep the moment eternal one must live it, immersing the self in the unknown of God’s mind and glory – in the unknown of God’s will that all should be as one, and loving one another.
So you see dear sisters and brothers we are together indeed, because it is God’s will that we should; in that togetherness we build the family with which God has entrusted us. I pray that you will ask God Almighty – in Jesus’ name, and the indwelling of Holy Spirit – to direct your participation and contribution to the building of our sacred family. I pray that God guides you with gentle light toward the Divine will. I pray that you will be sheltered in God, safely kept away from falsities of this world and from the distraction of self-centeredness.
We have much to do together, each one of us giving as God inspires us. I know, as well as you know, that God is generous; gifts have been sent to this world through us, and this world expects them. All that we have is God given – or at least I pray it is. We keep and treasure all that God has provided as nourishment for our life, and we give all that God has entrusted us to offer to this world; the two measures are but one: For with the same measure that you measure it shall be measured to you again – Luke 6:38
How good it is indeed, when people come together, gathered by God’s will, in God’s Name. How good it is when each of us humbly asks God to show us our place in the family, and our responsibility to the family. How good it is when we – in complete trust – ask God to help us be the light to the world, and the salt of the earth. Feel it brothers and sisters; feel God’s power grow within you, breaking you and restoring you, shaping you, molding you, and forming you in glory – indeed giving you Life. And by that power, know God’s direction and walk it fully.
We are, eternally, together in Christ
